Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau Police Department is warning residents of telephone scams during the holidays and one scam is bizarre. The department reports receiving calls recently from community members who reported receiving calls about their children or grandchildren being held hostage or abducted because they witnessed a drug deal.  The callers demanding money are telling them that they are in the Safeway or Walmart parking lots and that they shouldn t call police. The callers first hear a man with a southern accent followed by a woman who is put on the phone pleading for help.  Lieutenant Krag Campbell says the calls can be very scary, as the people are very intense with the claims, so it seems real.
