capture of abu anas al liby. in tripoli, what we can expect at the moment according to the minister i talked with is really anything is possible, that really whatever response may come from islamists there have been threats on some websites that they use, that they would like to kidnap americans, target american interests in libya. no one can say whether or not that will happen. the government taking the threats on those websites very seriously, carol. some americans might be asking themselves, look, we help libya out. we help libya overthrow moammar ga gadha gadhafi. why aren t they helping us more? reporter: already coming to the government here to try to organize meeting situation
steve: well, there will be a debate over it if the u.s. does decide to do it. when you send weapons you have to send more than just weapons but trainers, as well, so it is a sign of increased involvement and officer what we have seen how the rebels fight and fire and thousand they drive back and forth and how they behave there will not be a rapid turn around. neil: be safe. in the meantime they attack our human rights record and now we are saying sinus up again reapplying for the second term on the u.n. human rights council, the council that wanted syria in and only recently kicked libya out. and now the foundation for the defense of democracy is trying to figure that one out. i don t know if i would like to be in that club. guest: you are, we are paying for the biggest share.
hopes that they will offset and push libya out. obviously, we re deciding what steps should be taken. our hope is that the first thing that happens once we ve cleared this space is that the rebels are able to start discussing how they organized themselves, how they articulate their aspirations for the libyan people and created a legitimate government. gadhafi appeared defiant at a rally at his compound in tripoli last night. he said the libyan people are laughing at the coalition s attacks. we are losing the national war against imperialism. i do not care nothing scares me. well, gadhafi, he s all

you this is beyond wimpy, look, here is the difference between mumbarak and gaddafi. mumbarak united states a lot of favors, right? we were in business with mumbarak on if i terror business. gaddafi is a terrorist, is he a killer. everybody knows it. so the moment that libya went up, if i were president, i would have said not only do we want this guy out, we want this guy in guantanamo bay. we want to try this guy for the lockerbie bombing and for a whole bunch of other things as you know, colonel, his chief lieu tenants are now saying that gaddafi himself ordered the lockerbie bombing over scotland. so i don t understand president obama is a smart man, you know he is. he knows gaddafi is a terrorist. he knows is he a terrorist. now, we asked the white house this. and this is their response. they didn t come out against gaddafi in the beginning because they wanted to get all of the americans in libya out of there.
