military power is quite limited. the bottom line is if you can t get rid of somebody like gadhafi as poorly armed as the libyans are, it tells you something about the organization that has million of men under arms and spends hundreds of billions on defense, you don t get a lot for it. it isn t centrally managed. each country spends what it wants and no one s specializing. when i say the whole is less than sum of its parts it s because you have all this reputation, but it really isn t the single army or air force or anything else. once the president has said gadhafi must go, and gadhafi is still there, what would you do now if you were the administration? hillary clinton at this hour is on the hill trying to explain the libya mission to very concerned senate republicans to put it mildly. what would you do now that we re there? i never would have said that gadhafi must go.
