London, 17 March 2021:
Libya and Spain are seeking to cooperate in areas of drugs combating and information sharing.
The revelation came after a meeting yesterday between Spain’s ambassador Javier Garcia-Larrache with Libya’s Customs Authority.
The Customs Authority reported that the Spanish Ambassador emphasized that cooperation is very important between Libya and Spain, and direct channels of communication must be opened to combat drug smuggling and exchange information.
He said that his embassy’s offices are working continuously and are in the process of opening the embassy as soon as possible. He reported that there is interest from Spanish companies to return to work in Libya, to implement a number of stalled projects and that some of them are still working.

London, 3 February 2021:
Libya’s Customs Authority has directed its various departments to start implementing the Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) system as of 1 February.
It will be recalled that Libya’s Tripoli based Finance Ministry, whose authority the Customs Authority comes under, had announced in July 2020 that it was to adopt the use of the ECTN and established its Advanced Operation Information Room.
The Ministry had said the system is effective in tightening control over imports, in addition to being applied in many countries of the world. It had added that the system tracks and follows up on imported goods electronically to provide advance information about them, such as type, quantity, or source of goods, to combat forgery in documents attached to the customs declaration.
