W but my opening question is how this project came about and why. Well it came about out of a decision that we need to preserve and tell the story of americas founding. S tu and not just as a series of events, but as people who actually achieved it, who fought off these soaring ideals of equality and how that inspired a nation, people in our nation to achieve it. It is the most important event in our nations history. It not only gave birth to our nation but it really gave us the values that make us a people. Everything that we cherish and hold dear. So its more than just e artifacts . Its more more than artifacts. Our museum is founded on artifacts. Onely to see you all today this day. My name is donnas the dark, chair of the History Department here at salem state university. Thank you all for coming today. We are all here, obviously, the of Bridget Bishop long hot summer and thaw of 1962. This is the 325th anniversary of those events. As a history professor, i am sometimes reticent to indulge in what i called anniversary history, because i like my students to think every single day is historic. Take adoes feel right to moment, take a day, and really think about what happened during that year. So that is what we are doing today. That is what the city of salem is going to be doing probably all summer long. As a history professor, i am inetimes reticent to indulge anniversary history because i like my students to think that every single day is historic.
