An Iowa City woman who’s accused of taking $25 in lottery winnings from her employer could lead to a five-year jail sentence.
Police say 19-year-old Tasheana Dixon of Broadway Street was working at the North Liberty Casey’s on Kansas Avenue on December 23
rd when she checked lottery tickets to see if they were winners before purchasing them, and then cashing them in herself when they were.
The transactions, recorded on store security video, show the fraudulent transactions involved three lottery tickets worth $9 and with a winning value of $25.
Dixon was booked at the Johnson County Jail early Monday morning. She’s been charged with Forgery of Theft of Lottery Tickets, a Class D felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
