BUENOS AIRES Argentina inflation cooled slightly to 4.1% in April, the government said on Thursday, edging back off a peak the month earlier but overshooting analysts forecasts as the South American country battles to rein in rising prices.
The monthly rise was slower than an eye-watering 4.8% jump in March, which had been the highest since 2019, but was above even the highest prediction from analysts polled by Reuters that had centered around a 3.8% monthly increase.

Argentina inflation seen easing from March peak, remains high Reuters 2 hrs ago
BUENOS AIRES, May 13 (Reuters) - Argentina inflation likely eased slightly to around 3.8% in April, a Reuters poll of analysts shows, off a peak the month earlier that was highest since 2019 as the South American country battles to rein in rising prices.
The projections from 14 local and foreign analysts showed the grains producing country s Consumer Price Index rising a minimum 3.5% to a maximum of 4.0% for the month. It had hit 4.8% in March. The monthly variation in April is explained by the strong increase in the food and beverages area, due to some unfreezing of price controls, and energy and gasoline rates, said Natalia Motyl, economist at the Fundación Libertad y Progreso.
