Defiant Hong Kong protesters risked arrest outside a local court in the biggest demonstration in months, as dozens of the city s most prominent pro-democracy activists were jailed on subversion charges and authorities in Beijing moved to limit the opposition s role in future elections.
New Liberate HK Sculpture in Southern California; No Communists Allowed

HKCT s correspondent recently paid a visit to the Liberate Hong Kong sculpture in Yermo, California, near Interstate-15. The sculpture was created by Chinese-born New Zealand artist, Chen Weiming, who was also behind the replica of the Goddess of Democracy that is currently housed at CUHK.
When the sculpture was unveiled in Liberty Sculpture Park on 29 August 2020, 2 months to the day after China forced on Hong Kong the National Security Law. Between 300 and 400 people showed up to show their support in yellow hard hats, signage, and flags, despite the raging pandemic.

For months, after fleeing to Taiwan from the front lines of the Hong Kong protests, Ted was haunted by a recurring nightmare. He dreamed that he was trapped inside a glowing ring. Beside him, his fellow protesters were being beaten, tortured and raped by the police, but he was unable to move. Unable to help, he could only watch.
Ted would wake up yelling from his little bunk bed in Taipei, and find himself covered in a cold sweat; alone and safe.
The 22 year old is among roughly 200 people the Taiwan Association for Human Rights estimates have fled Hong Kong for the island after participating in the pro-democracy protests, which began in June last year amid mass opposition to a bill that would have allowed suspects to be sent to mainland China for trial.
