Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 710 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 80,014. In a press conference here, Noor Hisham said the 1,348 new cases bring the total number of cases in the country to 98,737. ADVERTISEMENT There are 102 patients in intensive care with 44 patients needing respiratory help. Three of the five deaths were in Selangor while there was one each in Sabah and Negeri Sembilan. They were all locals aged between 40 and 71 who had pre-existing medical conditions.

Covid-19: Malaysia reports 1,348 new cases, pushing actives past 18,000 mark, with five more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 23): Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases dropped to 1,348 today from 2,062 reported yesterday, with 761 cases or 56% of the new cases coming from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Five more deaths were also recorded. This raised the total confirmed infections in the country to date to 98,737. The new fatalities, meanwhile, raised the death toll from the coronavirus in the country to 444, according to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said the deceased were three men and two women aged between 40 and 71 years. Two of the fatalities were reported in Selangor, while one each was recorded in Sabah, Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan.

KENINGAU: Flash floods from several rivers due to heavy rains since 4pm on Wednesday have been described as the worst in recent memory with some houses faced with up to one metre of water. ADVERTISEMENT  Some roads in Patikang Ulu, Kg Kauran and other areas have become impassable and dangerous to vehicles.  The office of the Liawan Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) hopes that the flood problem can be solved thoroughly, especially in risky areas.  A spokesman for the Unit also asked the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to expedite the report to the Government so as to apply for allocations.
