6月25日，甘肃省政府网站公布造成21死8伤的“白银马拉松事故”调查报告全文。报告全文约1.9万字，内容包括赛事基本情况，事件发生经过等6个方面。
其中在事发经过中，涉及检查点（check point）人员配备、天气变化与体感温度关联、从开赛到出事再到救援的整个时间轴。
报告显示，5月22日9时比赛开始，至11时50分有跑手通过GPS定位设备发出求救信息，但未得到回应。中午12时17分左右，赛事营运及工作微信群陆续收到求救信息，并各自展开救援工作，但没有叫停比赛。至下午2时10分左右，大批跑手退赛，赛事被迫中止。
当日死伤主要发生在2号检查点至3号检查点间的路段，报告显示在海拔1347米的2号检查点，配备义工7人、医护3人、救护车1辆，但海拔2230米的3号打卡点，仅配备义工2人。
