ZTE eyes slice of 5G boom - Mobile World Live 17 MAR 2021
ZTE chairman Li Zixue detailed plans to increase investment in core technologies including algorithm and network architecture to help grab a share of a 5G market he tipped for mainstream success over the next five years.
In the Chinese vendor’s 2020 earnings statement, the chairman said 5G would drive “a new boom for the communications industry”. ZTE will invest to maintain its edge and provide end-to-end services enabling operators “to build highly competitive premium 5G networks”.
Net profit fell 17.3 per cent year-on-year to CNY4.26 billion ($655.2 million), attributed to a one-off gain booked in 2019. Revenue was 11.8 per cent higher at CNY101.5 billion, with deployment of standalone (SA) 5G networks in more than 240 cities in China driving a 39.3 per cent rise in domestic sales to CNY68.1 billion.

China s accelerated 5G rollout has propelled ZTE to its best result in years.
The Chinese vendor has announced a preliminary full-year profit of 4.37 billion yuan (US$674.6 million) on 11.7% higher sales of 101.4 billion yuan ($15.6 billion).
It powered home in the last quarter with a 62% spike in income to 1.66 billion yuan.
Full-year earnings fell 15.2% as a result of a one-off 2.7 billion yuan ($416 million) sale of Shenzhen property that inflated its 2019 result.
ZTE s stock on the HKSE rose 8.11% in Monday trading following release of the news.

Other numbers have improved too, with operating cash flow up 37.4%, and net gearing down 2.5 points to 69.5%, the company said.

The State Administration of Market Supervision gives penalty to JD, Tmall, and Vipshop for improper price behavior
In response to the strong feedback from consumers before and after the Double Eleven shopping festival, the State Administration of Market Supervision has dealt with JD.com, Tmall and Vipshop a penalty decision on December 24, 2020 in accordance with Article 40 of the Price Law and Article 7 of the Provisions on Administrative Penalties for Price Illegal Acts.
The enterprises were imposed administrative penalties of RMB500,000 yuan each. The three e-commerce companies were accused of making false promotions, induced transactions, and irregular price patterns.
