National optical fiber network project in Mauritania, whose implementation begun back in 2018 is now complete according to ZTE Corporation, a Chinese partially state-owned technology company that provides advanced telecommunications systems, mobile devices, and enterprise technology solutions to consumers, operators, companies, and public sector customers.
Financed by the World Bank, the project which is an important part of the West African Regional Communications Infrastructure Program (WARCIP) includes a national backbone network and international network interconnection.

(Ecofin Agency) - Chinese tech company ZTE Corporation announced it has completed the construction of Mauritania’s national optical fiber network, ongoing since 2018.
The 1,760-km broadband telecom infrastructure is a backbone composed of urban loops and an international network interconnection. In terms of international network interconnection, Nouakchott, the capital, serves as the landing point for the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable system.
Mauritania s national optical fiber network was built as part of the West Africa Regional Communications Infrastructure Program - funded by the World Bank - which aims to increase the geographical reach of broadband networks and reduce the costs of communication services within the country and with neighboring countries.

As an important part of WARCIP (West African Regional Communications Infrastructure Program) financed by the World Bank, Mauritania’s national broadband network construction project includes national backbone network and international network interconnection. The national backbone network construction covers backbone network and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) construction with a total of 1760 km optical lines.
Leveraging ZTE’s DWDM/OTN equipment, ZTE has constructed the national broadband network, and extended the bandwidth speed to at least 10Gbps.
