The updated Lexus UX crossover has finally arrived in South Africa. While its edgy looks remain more or less unchanged, the luxury Japanese carmaker has increased the vehicle's structural rigidity by adding an extra 20 spot welds to the body.
Lexus commitment to electrification is coming full circle with the announcement that its UX model will only be sold as a hybrid in SA.
The 250h range comes equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol engine good for 107kW and 188Nm, and working together with an electric motor, total system output is 135kW.
It runs from 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds with a limited top speed of just under 180km/h. Fuel economy stands at 4.5-litres/100km. Pricing starts from R719 600 for the base EX model and R795 800 for the top-specced SE.

The EX comes standard with park distance control with a reverse camera, push start system, Drive Mode Select, navigation system, hands-free boot operation, cruise control, heated side mirrors, and day and night mirrors.
