The North Carolina Board of Elections says there will be 550 cities, towns and villages deciding leaders, including district/ward seats, at-large seats and even mayoral races, most of them nonpartisan.
There's a 2-week window to file for various mayoral, town councils, boards of aldermen and commissions and other races, with dozens in the Piedmont Triad.
