SL1, a popular baby bald eagle (right) born to parents known as Dad and F420, died May 13 when the tree holding the eagles’ nest collapsed at Standley Lake Regional Park. When a bald eagle known as F420 laid eggs more than two months ago in a nest above Standley Lake, the fledgling eagle family became the stars of their own Colorado sitcom.

Evidently only one of the famous Standley Lake bald eagle eggs has hatched after all, and park managers now suspect the other one is not viable.
Two days after posting an entry last week on Facebook saying “we believe there is a second eaglet,” based on video images from the Standley Lake Eagle Cam, park officials backtracked on Saturday.
