Male found fatally shot near Forney; no suspects identified, sheriff’s office says

A male was found fatally shot Wednesday afternoon near Forney, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office said. No suspects were in custody.
The shooting happened about 4:45 p.m. on San Antonio Drive, not far from Lewis Elementary School, the sheriff’s office said. The male, whose age and identity were not released, was found at the scene and pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office said it didn’t have any suspect information. No other details were released.

North Lewis Elementary students, staff raise money for diabetes research

NEW IBERIA, La. â The faculty and students at North Lewis Elementary School in New Iberia raised money for diabetes research in honor of the school secretary, Karen Thomas, who s teenage son has Type 1 Diabetes.
According to an email from staff, students and faculty secretly arranged a campaign to wear blue jeans and donate $2 for JDRF, which is a nonprofit organization that funds Type 1 diabetes research.
The staff announced that they had raised a total of $781 for JDRF during the school s Administrative Professional Day on Wednesday.

Whatâs the rush? Do the million dollar players have somewhere to be. I donât want to spend time driving to the stadium and then spend money on a ticket, parking, a soda, and a snack just to be hustled out after two hours. What about the vendors? Do you think they will keep paying what Iâm sure are large sums of money for a booth and lose an hour of sales? If they really want to speed up the game, itâs real easy.
