Decades ago, Cedar Grove Cemetery was described as a serene, peaceful final resting place for many Black Charlotteans. But the property has been largely ignored after its last known owner died in 1972. Toppled headstones, trash and overgrown trees cover the cemetery, making it difficult to walk the grounds safely.
