Korea s Hyundai Motor and its smaller affiliate Kia on Sunday said their combined electric vehicle sales exceeded 1.5 million units as of December, 12 years after Hyundai debuted its first EV model.
Volvo Cars reported a 31% year-on-year increase in total car sales in India for the calendar year 2023, reaching 2,423 units. The growth was attributed to the strong performance of the XC60 model, which witnessed a significant surge, resulting in 921 deliveries. The locally assembled all-electric XC40 Recharge contributed significantly, with 510 units sold during the period.
Hyundai Motor has launched its first all-electric model under the N brand, the Ioniq 5 N, in the domestic market. The vehicle features an 84 kWh battery pack and can accelerate from zero to 100 kph in 3.4 seconds. Priced at $58,000, it can travel about 350 kms on a single charge. The Ioniq 5 N combines Hyundai s electric global modular platform with N s motorsport-bred technologies.
