This morning, the tanker truck lost control and burst into flames, and it was a fireball. The driver was killed instantly. It is unclear how the driver lost control, but we understand this was the only vehicle involved in the accident. We are waiting to get more information from the chp on exactly how this crash took place in what led to this accident. We understand again, the driver was killed in the crash, and you can see this mess that is left behind. In terms of traffic, 880 northbound, the far right lane is still closed off for the emergency crews, and the davis street offramp from northbound 880 is still shut down. We have traffic getting by in the other lanes, but again, the far right lane shut down causing a backup on northbound 880. The driver could not get out and died at the scene. The chp is still trying to figure out what caused this deadly crash. No indicator of another vehicle being involved and no indication of brakes being aplayed. Often, when this occurs, it could be somebody falling asleep or having a medical issue. As far as this specific collision is involved, its too early to say. Reporter now, the investigators here at the scene have not yet identified the driver of that tanker truck who, again, was killed in this Early Morning crash. They have not given us yet the name of the company but we understand it is a motor oil company out of san jose. Thats who this truck belongs to. Prepresumably, thats who this driver worked for.
