KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Friday unanimously passed the Control of Narcotic Substances (Sindh Amendment) Bill, 2021, making the manufacturing, selling and dispatching of methamphetamine drug, commonly known as ice or crystal, a punishable offence as a person involved in the heinous crime could get death penalty.
According to the statement of objects and reasons of the government bill, the culprits are given no punishment in trial courts as neurotoxic synthetic drugs including ice, crystal and meth were not defined in the laws.
Cabinet approves law to obtain succession certificate directly from NADRA
Karachi, January 07, 2021 (PPI-OT): The Sindh government, keeping view the lengthy process of obtaining the letter of administration and succession certificates from the court, has decided to enact ‘Letters of Administration and Succession Certificate Bill-2020’ so that it could be obtained directly from NADRA. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah here at CM House on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by all the provincial ministers, Advisor Law, chief secretary and chairman P and D.
The law department presented an item of enactment of law in respect of Letter of Administration and Succession certificate. Advisor law Murtaza Wahab briefing the cabinet said that presently the letter of administration and succession certificates were being issued under ‘Success Act 1925’ by the component courts having jurisdiction. Nathaniel Soule died intestate before 12 October 1699, leaving his widow with six minor children (age 17 down to age 9). Administration was granted to his widow, Rose (Thorn) Soule by the Bristol County Probate Court. She posted bond of 360 pounds as administratrix of the estate on 12 October 1699 with two others. An inventory reported on that day appraised the personal property at 197 pounds, 16 shillings, including 120 pounds for houses and lands. An account was made on 10 October 1700, and debts and charges in the amount of 23 pounds, 8 shillings and 8 pence included debts owed to Thomas Wait, Joseph Allen Jr, Jonathan Davil, Nathaniel Potter Jr, and Hugh Mousher, and rates paid to Constable Gifford. The remaining estate for distribution totaled 174 pounds, 7 shillings, 4 pence.
