and said if we stand shoulder to shoulder and handle the truths we will be stronger for it. so the dnc chair role and responsibility is a job. the job has responsibilities. that chief job is party building. party building. the next chair needs to be a builder. experience with building a party. i have done that in south carolina. not just organizing rallies, but the diversity within the party. that is our greatest strength and comes with great challenges. someone who is a visionary. not just the next election, but two or 10 years down the road. the person has to be a fighter. not just fighting against donald trump because we will all do that. someone who has fought their entire life. i started behind the starting line with a young mom who worked so much and my mom, thank you so
after donald trump was in inaugurat inaugurated, people taking to the streets and not just in washington, d.c., but around the world. that s what these dnc candidates were trying to show. they were trying to show they can tap into that energy. to the point i just made, unlikely and unwanted shout out from president trump. he tweeted this and said one thing i will say about keith ellison is that he was the one who predicted i would win. i m sure he didn t want that compliment. here s him responding to that. i don t really welcome praise from president trump. it pains me to say those two words. i can tell by july 2015 he had a lot of momentum. that he was gathering large crowds and when he got up there
thank you. this is a transformative moment for our country and certainly for our party. in this moment we need someone that the dnc will be able to increase turn out. i have done that as president of rock the vote. we will be able to go in to communities that we disconnected from and chunicaommunicate more effectively. i have done that at fox news for seven years. we need someone to innovate and i have done that using voter registration and if we are going to tap into this moment, also have to understand that politics as usual is not going to cut it. we need a fierce leader who is not afraid of speaking uncomfortable truths even when it s not the way to get the most amount of votes in this election. i think i m the only candidate up here who turned to the dnc
race. that is a dinner between you congressman ellison and you secretary perez, you went out to dinner recently. what happened there? that s my buddy right here. did you cut a deal? let me just say that did you cut a deal? no. we cut no deal. but we did say that unity for this party is so essential. if i win, i can count on tom. and if tom wins, he can count on me. that goes for everybody up here. but so we had that conversation. let me just tell you, think dnc members want us to be friends, talk to each other. want us to work it out. and i just want to say, and that s why i m really proud to have the support of chairman ray buckley, chair of the new hampshire democratic party
on saturday, democrats will choose the next chair of the democratic national committee. eight hopefuls went head to head and i want to bring in the senior commentator, the former democratic goff mor and rick santorum who is a former senator from pennsylvania. i would say good evening. it s good evening to you and good morning to you, senator. i will start with the governor since it s earlier for her. she may be brighter and spryer. cnn hosted the debate. you saw that. we heard about how they will work to take back what they feel they lost in the election. it s your party. what do you think? i m so glad that we had a spat of people who were
