come forward. exactly. you know, the president could have responded in so many different ways and the way that he chose to respond, though, really i think shows, you know, brings into focus why this is becoming a galvanizing moment for so many women because instead of saying, well, let s see how this plays out, he said i don t believe her because she didn t report it back then in the 1980s, you know, when really taking less seriously, and, you know, it really couldn t have been that bad. and that s just so offensive to i think so many women, people in general, some of whom are themselves victims and even if you re not you just understand that this is trump and frankly so many of the republican men in power right now trying to shame and bully these women who are coming forward. and, you know, i think the point is that as you say, as steph
president as he is exiting. we will say what they say as they emerge from the meeting. the president is heading back to the white house. how do you see it unfolding? the problem, wolf, for the president all week and the moral problem here is that he and his party control both houses of congress and the white house. they have put a policy in place. they are dragging their feet on solving the problem. you are talking about children here. that s why you see this kind of coming to a boil. it s not like other issues where people say, well, let s see how this plays out. people are angry. you see the president now walking through the corridor up on capitol hill. he will get closer to the cameras, closer to the reporters. i want to listen to see if he says anything as he passes by the pool of reporters who have gathered there up on capitol hill. he spent more than an hour meeting with lawmakers, republican house members.
we started up and now down 95. seems to be a collective shrug. every time the president does something like this, it s the sky is falling and the markets are down. but wall street is a good barometer of this time. they re like eh, let s see how this plays out. yeah, people are just waiting for the rhetoric to play out. the stock market investors always have trouble dealing with policy things. everybody is just trying to figure it out. yeah, the truth is, if you go back to gary cohen, the former economic adviser of the white house, which is why he s the former, because he said look, this is terrible. these are terrible tariffs on china. it s a trade war already. they re retaliating, we ll retaliate back, this could eat up the president s tax cuts. this could lead to inflation. what are your thoughts on gary cohen s comments? look, the conventional wisdom
say, alex. if republicans can get their acts together and actually pass legitimate tax reform, that s kind of, you know, that will cover a multitude of sins. so, again, let s see how this plays out. i m not overly concerned at this moment. i m really not. we ll see how it goes the next few months of this year and how we go into 2018. but if they can get some real legislation passed, i think, actually, 2018, if they can get some real legislation passed, could actually be a very good year for republicans, but we ll see. okay, we ll see. ned ryan, you ll have to come back and talk to us about it. up next, is the president jumping the gun about barrack g i bragging about his excellent jobs numbers. and joy reid talks about the new film detroit. shawn evans: it s 6 am.
