Two Standard 5 boys from Letlhakeng Primary School on Saturday drowned at Tamo-ya- malutu dam commonly known as Limpopo situated in the middle of Ditshegwane village.
The deceased who were part of six boys that had gone for a swim lost their lives after they got to the deepest part of the dam and their peers were unable to rescue them.
Letlhakeng Police Station Commander, Superintendent Mogomotsi Kesupile, confirmed that the two bodies were retrieved from the said dam the same day with the assistance of police scuba divers.
“After the boys realised that their friends had drowned, they rushed to the neighbouring yards to report the incident. According to the information that we got, as they were swimming going in and out of the water, three of them happened to get to the deeper end. Fortunately the other one was able to be rescued on time by his peers after he screamed for help,” explained Kesupile.
