prosecutors, they may to decide not to go forward. and so, you know, it sort of complicates our take away from this week. on the one hand, trump is absolutely enormous legal peril, i believe that attorney general james has done everything she can with the tools she has to bring a very forceful case that could really transform this company or shut it down. but, it does seem like he continues to avoid criminal responsibility and accountability for the very same acts. you know, jill, former u.s. attorney general bill barr under donald trump said it was a gross overreach to drag trump s kids, the three adult kids, into the suit. and, they can t be expected to do their due diligence. i mean, come, on last time i checked they were grown adults, what responsibility do they
this was coming, just last week they tried to settle the suit, and in a deposition with attorney general james last month, trump pled the fifth, more than 400 times so, how do these actions affect the future of this case? it is a really good case. letitia james laid out very significant evidence of multiple, like, hundreds of examples of fraud by the trump organization, but specifically by donald trump himself and specific acts by his adult children who were officers of the company who were in charge of operating the company. and, claiming the fifth amendment in a civil case can be used against you. it can t in a criminal case so, in the civil case, there is a lower standard of proof, it is a preponderance, it s more likely than not him as opposed to it is beyond a reasonable doubt, which makes it easier to prove. and then, you add to it that you can draw negative
