doorstep on christmas morning. may be delayed now because of this huge weather system, jim. goodness. so much to factor in. pete, thank you so much. and let s go to denver where wind windchill are in effect throughout the day. lucy kafanov joins us now from denver with what she s seeing there. so what is it like and is relief expected any time soon? reporter: relief is expected soon, jim. and while the worst of the storm is over. you could see the city getting back to normal. it doesn t feel like it is getting back to normal because of the windchills. we ve had now 37 consecutive hours of below freezing and below zero temperatures. that is not going to change until after around 11:00 a.m. local time here in colorado. this is normally a very busy downtown area.
that only essential traffic will be on the streets and on the highways. this is the beginning of what we expect to be a very long day for folks here in western new york. and it is not just about the travel concerns, but a flooding concern as well. in fact, less than a mile from where i m standing is lake erie. and officials here have been really worried that the storm as it continues to move east that it forces water closer to some of those lake front communities. so there are some of the communities, including one about 15 minute drive south of here, that where there is a mandatory evacuation in place. so they re keeping a close eye on the coastal dmucommunities a then the roads will be more dangerous. polo, thank you so much. let s go to denver which saw temperatures plunge 47 degrees in two hours as the storm moved through the region, today it
