Ruby Rose is open to Batwoman return
Almost a year on from her surprise departure from
Batwoman – in a move which was said to not not entirely “100% her decision” – actress Ruby Rose has revealed to Comic Book Movie that she is open to reprising the role of Kate Kane in The CW’s Arrowverse series should the story call for it.
“I mean, I’m obviously moving on to other roles as I think I’ve done about three films since,” said Rose during a promotional interview for her new film SAS: Red Notice. “I would totally do it. I don’t think it would serve the story because I think building the new Batwoman is more important than going back too far into Kate Kane, but of course I would, I would absolutely do anything they wanted as far as that. I haven’t watched the whole thing, but I’ve watched a couple of episodes, and I think how they’re handling it is beautiful. I think it’s her time to shine.”

Gotham has been abandoned.
Not literally. There are still plenty of helpless families and psychotic criminals running around, but Batman is nowhere to be found. In fact, he’s been absent for three years with no return in sight.

However, Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries has repeatedly insisted that Ruby’s character would never be killed off, in spite of the actress having definitively left the show last year.
While the season two premiere featured newcomer Javicia Leslie playing Ryan Wilder, a.k.a. the new Batwoman, it did little to provide a definitive answer to the question posed by the episode’s title: What happened to Kate Kane? As a lesbian who’s been working as a writer for the past fifteen years, I’m well aware of the Bury Your Gays trope and I have no interest in participating in it, Caroline said last June.
