Angry British fisherman say they have been betrayed by the Government in its trade deal with the EU, accusing Boris Johnson of bottling it in the negotiations.
As part of the agreement struck between Brussels and London, the EU will return only 25 per cent of the value of fish caught in its waters during a five and a half-year transition period.
SHETLAND Fishermen’s Association (SFA) has a new chairman.
Alison Kay skipper James Anderson, who has chaired the organisation briefly in the past, is replacing Leslie Tait.
Tait, who has spent 13 years in the role, will now be honorary president. He will also stand down from his role as vice-president of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation in August.
SFA executive officer Simon Collins said: “We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Leslie, whose knowledge and insight has been invaluable during his tenure.
“James is a fisherman of vast experience and will be an excellent chair of the association as we move into a new era for the industry.”
