Marion Township officials are set to send their proposed new master plan out for comment.
Every 5 years, as required by law, townships must review the document which serves as a roadmap for where its leaders want to steer the community in the future. It can address land use and infrastructure issues while projecting out 20 years into the future. At last weekâs meeting, the Marion Township Board of Trustees voted unanimously to send off the current draft to neighboring municipalities and utilities for a mandatory 63-day comment period.
Supervisor Bob Hanvey said the email account masterplan@mariontownship.com is set up for residents to comment, with roughly 200 residents already on the mailing list.

The Marion Township Board of Trustees has passed a resolution against an industrial shredder that could be coming to the nearby City of Howell.
The City Planning Commission granted site plan and special land use approval to Padnos Iron and Metal in November of 2019, but Padnos is now in court with the City following the Cityâs Board of Zoning Appeals denial of 3 variance requests. At the heart of it is a request to allow an industrial scrap metal shredder outdoors. Padnos is located at 645 Lucy Road, a site which is up against residential zoning in neighboring Marion Township.
