CAMDEN The annual Leonard Lookner Memorial Camden Roadside Cleanup will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24.
Volunteers are invited to meet at Hannaford Supermarket parking lot in Camden, at 9 a.m., both Friday and Saturday, where they will receive safety vests, equipment, and road assignments. To receive a road assignment in advance or for more information about volunteering, contact Alison McKellar at amckellar@camdenmaine.gov or Jenna Lookner at jlookner@camdenmaine.gov or 617-894-5766.
The cleanup began in 2017 as a celebration of Earth Day and to honor the late Leonard Lookner, a Camden Select Board member who died in 2017. Lookner routinely walked from his home on Melvin Heights Road into downtown Camden, filling his pockets with roadside trash during the approximately four-mile round-trip walk.
