Marvel star Anthony Mackie s Outside the Wire on Netflix review Gabriella Geisinger © Netflix Outside the Wire review – Anthony Mackie of Falcon fame stars in a military thriller on Netflix – but is it worth our time? Anthony Mackie is already being addressed as Cap, though not in the film you think. The Marvel actor s latest movie Outside the Wire sees him star as Captain Leo in a military thriller that s out now on Netflix. Outside the Wire takes place in 2036, during a civil war in Eastern Europe, between Russia and Ukraine. The US are deployed as peacekeepers (lol, sure) but their army has evolved in 15 years to features robot soldiers called Gumps.

Outside the Wire Review: Netflix s Sci-Fi Action Film Has Ludicrous Fun With an Android Anthony Mackie Mackie continues to build his star profile Jordan Hoffman Jan. 13, 2021, 12:01 a.m. PT One of the best things about movies is, usually, if someone does something that makes no sense, you can wait long enough and there will be clarity. Especially in a military techno thriller. Why would the General do that? you cry. And then, when you get to the end, it s, Aha! They had me for a while! Such is the case with the Netflix film Outside The Wire. Unlike in real life, where you ll never know for sure why your sister-in-law just up-and-became a jerk one day, sticking with these two baffling hours brings answers. (Trust me on this, as I almost lost hope.) Luckily, there are other rewards along the way, like seeing Anthony Mackie play an unstoppable killing machine rampaging his way through the Crimea.

Netflix’s ‘Outside the Wire’ never gets outside the box By Bob Strauss, San Francisco Chronicle © Jonathan Prime?/NETFLIX, ©, 2020 / Jonathan Prime / Netflix Anthony Mackie, as, Leo, and Pilou Asbæk in Outside the Wire. “Outside the Wire” is one of those Netflix action pics that, while perfectly serviceable, never ventures beyond its genre perimeter. Coming to the streaming service Jan. 15, the futuristic war caper is generous with brutal combat and barely adequate on the visual effects front. Its two stars the always reliable Anthony Mackie (Marvel s Falcon, that great “Striking Vipers” episode of “Black Mirror”) and British up-and-comer Damson Idris (“Farming,” another “Black Mirror” gem, “Smithereens”) give the material more solid commitment than it s probably worth. But they re definitely a plus, and this thing would be flavorless without them.
