Rose West’s former solicitor has told of rumours that Fred West used the disappearance of Mary Bastholm as a bargaining chip for prison privileges.

The Clean Plate café is the scene of a police investigation after evidence was found of a body thought to be missing teenager Mary Bastholm, a suspected victim of Fred West. Mary Bastholm worked at a sandwich shop, The Pop In, where The Clean Plate now stands, according to The Daily Mail Online. Books by Brian Masters and Gordon Burn state West was a regular at the eatery and he carried out work on the building s drains – though Rose West’s solicitor Leo Goatley believes West may have been laying floor there. POLICE are today digging under a cafe for the remains of a missing 15-year-old girl feared murdered by serial killer Fred West 53 years ago.
Schoolgirl Mary Bastholm was last seen on 6 January 1968 waiting for a bus to go and see her boyfriend.
