AppHealthCare and Boone Drug Partner for COVID-19 Vaccine Administration Published: 12 January 2021
AppHealthCare is proud to announce the partnership with Boone Drugs, Inc. to help administer COVID-19 vaccines for pre-scheduled appointments this week.
Through this partnership, AppHealthCare has utilized the individuals eligible that are 75 years or older to assign their appointment to one of three Boone Drug locations: Boone Drug at New Market, Boone Drug at Deerfield, and the Horn in the West site to receive their vaccine at their appointment time.

Blowing Rock Council Meets January 12
The Blowing Rock Town Council will meet Tuesday, January 12th @ 6 pm.
Items on the agenda include a public hearing on a Foggy Rock Conditional Use Permit, and a special presentation from the Blowing Rock Police Department.

Watauga, Ashe, Wilkes Libraries Return to Virtual Services Only Published: 12 January 2021
Appalachian Regional Library, with public libraries in Ashe, Watauga, and Wilkes Counties, is moving back into curbside and virtual services only. Beginning Wednesday, January 13, all our libraries will be closed to the public.
The library system has chosen this course of action due to the recent spike in positive COVID19 cases across the state and Dr. Mandy Cohen’s directive recommending that people stay at home as much as possible. Boone Chamber Presents COVID-19 Q & A Session January 12 Published: 12 January 2021
The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Community COVID-19 Vaccine question and answer session this afternoon.
The free event will be held from 1 till 2:30 pm, and is open to all community members.
Representatives from AppHealthCare, Appalachian Regional Healthcare System, Blue Ridge Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, Boone Drug, Inc, and Watauga County Schools will be participating.
Avery County And Avery Health Department Make COVID-19 Vaccines Available Published: 12 January 2021
Avery County and the Avery County Health Department have announced COVID-19 vaccines are now available for anyone 75 years or older.
In a press release, Phillip Barrier, County Manager said the vaccines will be available at the Avery Agriculture Extension Center (661 Vale Road above Ingles in Newland), today – Friday, and again next week, Wednesday, January 20 – Friday, January 22 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
According to the release, no appointments are necessary. You should bring your insurance card and wear appropriate clothing for easy access to have the vaccination in your upper arm.
