The second floor of the roof ended up collapsing which made the walls of the building unstable.
During a press conference Saturday night, JRFD stated that more than 100 firefighters responded to the scene. It took a little over an hour to get the blaze under control, JFRD said.
The building was previously a funeral home and no one was inside during the fire.
Several buildings nearby were put in danger after the floor collapsed, according to JFRD. Crews are considered this a three-alarm fire. There were firefighters on the scene throughout the night to put out the remaining hotspots.
Due to the circumstances of the fire, the state Fire Marshal s Office will be handling the investigation.
