SCRANTON – The parents of a young child who suffered a broken left forearm after a fall off the side of a ramp located at their neighbors’ back door, have petitioned for the execution of a settlement of $115,000.
HARRISBURG – The Superior Court of Pennsylvania has reversed and remanded a motion calling for the disqualification of a Scranton law firm, in representing a plaintiff in an underlying personal injury action in a Lackawanna County court.
SCRANTON – Dunmore School District has abandoned litigation over the reclassification of its high school girls’ basketball program by a state athletic group.
Dunmore School District of Dunmore initially filed suit in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas on June 19 versus the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, of Mechanicsburg.
The action was removed to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on June 29.
Dunmore had contested a decision from the PIAA to promote the Dunmore High School Girls’ Basketball team from Class 3A to 4A, based on specific criteria in the organization’s new competitive balance rule.
