Britannia Industries Ltd.'s third quarter profit declined on account of a one-time gain in the base quarter but met analysts' estimates.
The consolidated net profit of the Marie Gold biscuit-maker fell 40.4% over the previous year to Rs 555.6 crore in the October-December quarter, according to an exchange filing on Wednesday. That compares with the Rs 552.8-crore consensus estimate of analysts tracked by Bloomberg.
Patanjali Keswani, chairman and MD of Lemon Tree Hotels told ET in an interview that this year s expansion will include the opening of a Lemon Tree resort in Bhutan and the launch of 3-4 hotels and resorts in Nepal. Last year, the BSE-listed company had launched 1,375 new rooms across 14 hotels, including India s biggest hotel - the 669-room Aurika Mumbai Skycity.
Many mid-size and upscale hotel companies are firming up investments and capacity expansion plans to the tune of Rs 3,500 crore in key holy towns in the next two years, according to data collated by Noesis Capital Advisors, a hotel investing and consulting firm. This translates into over 5,000 new rooms and about 25,000 jobs.
Shares of hotel companies and travel solutions providers surged after the government announced measures in the Interim Budget for FY25 to boost leisure and spiritual tourism. The tourism industry received an allocation of Rs 2,449 crore to develop India as a hub for business and conference tourism. The government also proposed interest-free loans to states for the development of iconic tourist destinations.
