BRECKENRIDGE, Texas (BIGCOUNTRYHOMEPAGE) - 20 high school teams from across the country stopped in Breckenridge Sunday afternoon on their 925-mile journey from Texas Motor Speedway all the way to Palmdale, California. These teams spent a whole year to get to this moment, raising money to get the funds necessary to plan, build and test their unique car powered by solar power.
Palo Alto High School enters the 30th annual Solar Car Challenge for the first time ever with 19 other student-led teams testing solar-powered cars they built.
Twenty teams of high school students are at Texas Motor Speedway for the Solar Car Challenge on Sunday, July 16. Students will drive the cars that they built from scratch approximately 1,400 miles from Texas to California.
