1 year of COVID in Pa.: A timeline of the pandemic’s trials and tolls in the Lehigh Valley
Updated Mar 06, 2021;
March 6, 2020: Pennsylvania confirms its first cases of COVID-19.
March 6, 2021: More than 900,000 Pennsylvanians have been sickened to varying degrees. More than 24,000 have died. These figures include more than 58,000 cases and 1,400 deaths in the Lehigh Valley.
The coronavirus has surged, ebbed and surged again. The last year has seen mask requirements, travel restrictions, shutdowns, reopenings and, most recently, vaccines.
It’s easy to forget the details of a year that simultaneously dragged and blurred: The uncertainty of the earliest days, the frustration waiting for the “green phase,” the anxiety as cases soared to their worst levels around the holidays.
