JCC vaccine clinic opens Wednesday appointments for first dose of Moderna

WATERTOWN — The Jefferson County collaborative COVID-19 clinic at Jefferson Community College has opened registration for vaccine appointments from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday. According to a news release Jefferson County Board of Legislators Chairman Scott A. Gray, the clinic will be distributing first-dose shots of the Moderna vaccine. Registration is available online at jcphs.org, and all currently eligible populations in New York state can sign up. People aged 65 and older without reliable internet access can call the county Office for the Aging to make an appointment at 315-785-3191. The clinic also offers a sign-up list for additional doses in the event more vaccines are received than appointments made. Those interested can sign up at hidrb.com/signup.

Jefferson County Dairy Parade gets go-ahead

WATERTOWN — Organizers have gotten the go-ahead to put on the Jefferson County Dairy Parade in June after last year’s event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jay M. Matteson, agricultural coordinator for the Jefferson County Economic Development Agency, said he found out late Thursday afternoon that the parade in Watertown can be held on June 4, with the theme this year is “This Milk is For You!” “We got it approved,” Mr. Matteson, agricultural coordinator for the Jefferson County Economic Development Agency, said. “We’re very excited. This is a real parade.” City Manager Kenneth A. Mix and Jefferson County Board of Legislators Chairman Scott A. Gray both signed off on having the parade this year, as long as COVID-19 cases remain low.
