The school announced on Wednesday that they would be leaving the South Carolina High School League to join the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association as a provisional member for the 2021-2022 school year. The move becomes effective July 1st. According to Legion, partnering with the NCISAA will best serve their current and prospective South Carolina students by allowing significantly more of them to participate in interscholastic athletics. After two years of provisional membership, Legion will be evaluated for full membership status. There will be a press conference on Monday with more information.
