Local author hopes to inspire POC youth to read with new book series
This was the case for visual artist turned children’s book author Kristen Mann.
“I Really (want to) get the black children excited about seeing themselves on a book”
She told 12 News. Her new series “Legendary Lessons” is a book that surrounds the life of someone very special to her.
“So, my son is Legend Thomas and I wanted to create a book with him as the character just as something special to leave him as a legacy.”
Writing the book isn’t just about her son though. When the pair went searching for a new book at the store or the library, they noticed something was missing from the shelves.
