And at the same time the adams camp accused Andrew Jacksons wife, but it was vicious. We think of it like politics, it was very civil. Adams it was great. It was very not very nice. Was there a particular period of her life or episode in her life or aspect of her life that you were frustrated by this horrible record about and wanted to go into more detail on . Great question. Certainly slavery is one of the things i was interested in. I know it is frustrating because i had census records and legal documents and she didnt write about that stuff. I cant talk about her attitudes in quite that way although she does talk about slavery later. There are periods she goes silent. I felt the lack of her voice in those moments but she did leave, she herself left a vibrant record, not like a lot of women at the time burn their letters because people didnt she burned this. So i wanted to make sure i read being nixon which is one of the best and sympathetic portraits of Richard Nixon i have ever read.
