Delight for Attorney General s office, CHRAJ, others as EUs ARAP programme ends successfully – Ghana Visions

+ At the closing ceremony of the European Union’s (EUs) Accountability, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption programme (ARAP) on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, institutions such as the Attorney General’s office, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Judicial Service as well as others have expressed their delight to the success of the programme. The programme launched by the EU four years ago set out to contribute to reform processes of the government of Ghana in the area of the rule of law, accountability, anti-corruption, and environmental governance through supporting key institutions in the justice sector while increasing the capacity of the demand side of accountability to also play their role.

Emmanuel Ebo Hawkson to receive Article 19 Press Prize

Graphic Online BY: News Desk Report 705 Graphic Online’s court reporter Mr Emmanuel Ebo Hawkson and two other journalists have been selected to receive the Article 19 Press Prize awards. The recipients are being rewarded for producing compelling stories that highlighted the ills of the country’s criminal justice system and why there was need for reforms. The award scheme is organised by African Heights Foundation, in partnership with Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA). Winning story Mr Hawkson was announced as the 1st runner-up with a story titled, “Caged for Seven Years,” which was published on the front page of the Daily Graphic on March 3, 2020.

Judge appeals to Legal Aid to defend J B Danquah Adu killers

The Trial Judge of the alleged killers of J. B. Danquah Adu, the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, on Friday appealed to lawyers at the Legal Aid Scheme to take up the mantle of defending the suspects.
