Monthly bills were reported as $42,148.06.
Pay requests were approved for Leesville Street Projects in the amount of $129,083.87 and Runway Safety Improvements in the amount of $39,351.20.
City Engineer Mark McCarty discussed the project of tracing city water department water valves. The cost of the equipment is about $1600/day. It was decided to commit to a one day trial to determine if enough ground is covered to be considered productive.
Mayor Allen asked about the Herring Street bridge â McCarty said the timbers were rotten and broken. It was decided the bridge needs to be replaced. McCarty was asked to investigate the cost. Vernon Parish Police Jury may be asked if they will assist.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday in Leesville for New Llano Police Chief Danny Hunt. He passed away on Friday in an Alexandria hospital.
A native of New Llano and a 1977 graduate of Leesville High School, Hunt had a lengthy law enforcement career which included stints with the Vernon Parish Sheriffâs Department and the Leesville Police Department.
Additionally, Hunt was a firearms instructor, Louisiana Hunter Safety Course Instructor, and had also been a DARE officer. He was also the West CenLa Shrine Club President for many years, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #240, and a board member of Vernon Action Council of Leesville.
