Higginson A man caught with wraps of cocaine in his underwear has been jailed for two and a half years after telling police they were “bang on” when they suspected he was guilty of drug dealing. Daniel Higginson was desperate for money and had the bailiffs at his door when he was seen dealing in Shipley town centre on the afternoon of February 18, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday. He pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to supply and was jailed on a video link to Leeds Prison where he was remanded in custody.

Sakeb Nazir A drug dealer who tried to bribe a police officer after he was caught with £1,400 of crack cocaine and heroin in street deals has been jailed for four years and four months. Sakeb Nazir was today sentenced for a string of drugs and driving offences committed between August, 2019, and last October while in breach of a suspended sentence order. Prosecutor Clare Walsh said he told an arresting officer “I’ll give you £1,000” when he was being transported to the police station, then put up his fingers indicating greater sums.

A CONVICTED child rapist was locked up for four years after attempting to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex just seven months after his release from a 12 year prison sentence. Judge Jonathan Rose agreed with a probation officer and a psychiatrist that Daniel Schofield was a high risk of causing serious harm to children and gave him an 11 year extended sentence. Schofield, 33, of Lynfield Drive, Heaton, Bradford, was jailed on a video link to HMP Leeds after being recalled to prison until June, 2026.
A member of a burglary gang that raided cash, property and a car to the value of £23,000 from a family home was today jailed for three years. Liam Sherriff climbed through a window at the unoccupied country home near Bingley and let his accomplices in with the house keys, Bradford Crown Court heard. The gang made an untidy search of every room while the couple and their baby were out for a drive on the afternoon of May 10 last year, prosecutor Hannah Walker said. The family returned to find their Vauxhall Corsa gone, along with £700 in cash, jewellery, laptop computers, bank cards, tools and electronic equipment.
Man armed with baton caused ugly and frightening disturbance at shop A MAN has been jailed for 13 months after arming himself with a baton and causing an “ugly and frightening” disturbance at a Keighley shop. Leigh Raby went into North Street Stores in the Airedale Centre masked and with his hood up after the shopkeeper had accused him of spitting on the window, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday. Raby, 38, of Parkwood Rise, Keighley, was chased away from outside the premises earlier in the day when he returned at about noon with his face covered and in different clothing, prosecutor Alex Sutton said.
