A Leechburg church has partnered with a Lower Burrell- area nonprofit to ensure food supply is not a problem in future free distributions.

March 21: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish is selling raffle tickets for a Half A Cow raffle. Winner will receive half a cow, a 20-cubic feet freezer, $200 gift card to Naser’s Foods, $200 gift card to Rukas Beverage and a $100 gift card to Lackey’s Dairy Queen. Fox Chapel
February: Fox Chapel Area High School will host a community blood drive during February at the Vitalant Harmar/Fox Chapel Donor Center, 2585 Freeport Road, suite 207. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Donors must be at least 16 years old and will be tested for antibodies to covid-19 for free.
Free food for the public is coming to Leechburg every Saturday in February.
About 1,100 boxes will be distributed Saturday in a drive-thru format from noon-5 p.m. in the Leechburg Fire Hall lot at 268 Canal St.
Saturday’s distribution kicks off the first of a four-day outreach this month.
The event is sponsored by Kiski Valley Community Church in partnership with USDA Farmers to Families Food Box and Convoy of Hope.
Pastor Todd Pugh said the new event is related to ongoing pandemic conditions.
“We’ve been looking and praying for an opportunity to do something helpful in the community and surrounding area,” Pugh said. “When I was invited to be a part of the program, we jumped on it.”
