Irish Sweep Virginia Series with 5-1 Sunday Win share
NOTRE DAME, Ind. Notre Dame (22-12, 13-10 ACC) secured the series sweep over Virginia (13-25, 9-20 ACC) with a 5-1 win Sunday. The victory extended the home win streak to 14 games, and senior pitcher Alexis Holloway allowed just two hits in the complete game, earning her 10th win of the season.
Holloway posted four strikeouts, as she and the Irish at one point retired 14-straight batters from the end of the first inning to the end of the fifth inning.
Freshman Karina Gaskins hit her first home run at Melissa Cook Stadium, a two-run shot to give the Irish the lead in the third inning. In total, six different Irish players delivered a hit, and graduate student Katie Marino totaled two runs, which led the team.

Irish Clinch Series with Doubleheader Sweep over Virginia, Mount Seventh-Inning Comeback in Game 2 share
NOTRE DAME, Ind. Notre Dame Softball (21-12, 12-10 ACC) earned two wins in the doubleheader Saturday, topping Virginia (13-24, 9-19 ACC) 6-3 in the first game, followed by a 3-2 seventh-inning comeback win in the second game. The Irish extend the home win streak to 12 games, and secure the series win heading into Sunday’s finale after having won Friday’s contest as well.
Senior Alexis Holloway pitched a complete game in the first outing of the day, striking out six and improving to 9-6, as junior Payton Tidd followed it up with another complete-game victory, allowing just three hits and striking out three, moving to 11-5.

Irish Return to Action Hosting Series with Virginia share
NOTRE DAME, Ind. Notre Dame (18-12, 9-10 ACC) returns to play this week after a brief pause, set to host a four-game series with Virginia April 16-18 at Melissa Cook Stadium.
Notre Dame owns a 10-game home win streak thanks to an April 7, 8-1 victory over Western Michigan. The streak began with an April 13, 2019 win over NC State and extends to the Irish’s six home wins this season (Notre Dame did not play any home games in 2020, as the season was cut short prior to the first scheduled home matchup). Overall, the Irish boast 454 wins at home in program history, and their record at Melissa Cook Stadium since it opened in 2008 is 178-41-1.
