Smyrna Chief of Police Jason Irvin gave a report on the outstanding conduct of three members of the department at the Smyrna Town Council meeting this month.
UPDATE: A 79-year-old Murfreesboro man was killed on I-24 East early Thursday morning in Rutherford County. The wreck occurred about 15-minutes before 5AM at mile-marker 67.8 between Sam Ridley Parkway and Almaville Road (Lee Victory Parkway).
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, James Terry Walker was driving his Jeep Grand Cherokee on I-24 West when a 2013 Jeep Wrangler struck the rear of Walker’s SUV. The THP noted in their preliminary report that the driver of the Cherokee appea .
There are a fatal crash at 4:47AM Thursday (10/6/2022) morning on I-24 near the Almaville Road exit. The Tennessee Highway Patrol patrol told NewsRadio WGNS that two vehicles were involved. One of them rolled over on the interstate, near mile marker #70 (Lee Victory Parkway / Almaville Rd. exits).
The THP reports that as of 7:10AM, I-24 at Almaville Road is open.

Smyrna police are searching for a man who fled a traffic stop

SMYRNA, Tenn. (WTVF) â Smyrna police are searching for John Jeffrey Hicks who fled a vehicle on foot at a police traffic stop.
According to Smyrna police, officers initiated a traffic stop on Lee Victory Parkway in Smyrna. Hicks exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a felony amount of marijuana, meth, heroin, and a loaded AR-15 rifle. As Hicks fled the scene he dropped a semi-automatic pistol.
Hicks is out on bond for felony drug charges in a neighboring county.
