The facility earlier this month also welcomed a new endangered black-footed ferret on permanent loan.
The zoo is currently open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the drive-through closing at 6 p.m.
Sorsha, the zoo’s five-year-old red ruffed lemur gave birth to a healthy baby on June 2. Mother and baby are both doing well, officials reported. It is the first lemur born at the zoo, as well as Sorsha’s first pup.
The new mom is being very attentive to the newborn, officials said, with staff monitoring the pup’s growth and other developmental milestones as well as its mom’s maternal behavior.
