Liverpool have appointed Dr Andreas Schlumberger to the newly-created role as head of recovery and performance, reports James Pearce.
The 54-year-old has parted company with Schalke after jumping at the opportunity to become part of Jurgen Klopp’s backroom staff.
Schlumberger’s work at the AXA Training Centre will primarily be focused on players who have completed their rehab following injury and are building up their fitness ahead of being reintegrated into the first-team squad.

He has a wealth of experience from working in the Bundesliga.
