Shop retrieves incorrect NT$4 million receipt, saves itself fine

Taipei, Dec. 16 (CNA) A mochi shop in Su ao that issued a receipt for NT$4 million (US$142,207) more than the actual price of the sweets it sold has recovered the receipt and saved itself a small fine.
The store, part of the popular Tzen s Mochi chain, said the customer who received the receipt for NT$4,000,054 for the NT$54 purchase of three sweet sticky rice cakes Sunday, contacted the shop Tuesday evening in response to an online appeal.
Earlier Tuesday, the company scrambled to find the customer and get the receipt back, fearing it would have to have to pay a business tax (similar to a sales tax) of nearly NT$200,000 on the NT$4,000,054 sale shown on the receipt, known formally as a uniform invoice.

Taipei, Dec. 15 (CNA) A popular Hualien County mochi chain store is looking for a customer who was issued with a uniform invoice by one of its cashiers earlier this week, who mistakenly typed the figure for NT$54 (US$1.92) as NT$4 million and five dollars.
The cashier serving at a Tzen s Mochi store at a freeway rest stop in Su ao, Yilan County, sold three mochi sweet sticky rice balls with peanut filling for NT$54 at 3:57 p.m. on Sunday, but mistakenly issued the invoice for NT$4 million and five dollars, the company said on Tuesday.
